Students Sharpen Negotiation Skills in Special Seminar

A group of students recently participated in an intensive one-day negotiation Skill Seminar led by experts from Unibail Rodamco-Westfield, a major retail real estate company that is one of the CEMS corporate partners. The seminar provided students with practical techniques to improve their negotiation abilities for both their careers and daily lives.

“This seminar is designed for students who want to enhance their negotiation tactics and learn useful strategies. The knowledge gained can be applied in everyday interactions and future jobs,” says Michaela Zavadil Tallova, the leader of the training, who has been a leasing manager at URW since 2018 with over 10 years of experience in sales, negotiation, communication and project management.

The interactive workshop incorporated best practices, case studies, and role play exercises for students to practice their skills. They had opportunities to negotiate individually and as a team. The curriculum aligned with current research in psychology and sociology.

Tanguy de Lamartinie was one of the students who signed up for the seminar. „I signed up for this event primarily because of the URW’s reputation. As someone with a background in the real estate industry, I’ve always had a great interest in this giant of retail real estate. Moreover, I thought there was much to learn from experts who practice negotiation for a living.”

„I believe my expectations were fully met,” concludes Tanguy whose biggest takeaway from the seminar was the “10 golden rules of negotiation”. „I hope this clear framework will boost my confidence in future negotiations.”

At the end of the day, the Head of people took the time to discuss work opportunities at URW with CEMSies. „The Skill Seminar opened my eyes to the prospects of collaborating with the company in the future, and I enjoyed figuring out what graduate opportunities were available for CEMS student profiles,” concludes Tanguy.
