Faculty of Business Administration has successfully completed the EQUIS re-accreditation
The Faculty of Business Administration – home faculty of the CEMS Programme – has successfully completed the EQUIS re-accreditation process and is still the only Czech faculty with this most prestigious international accreditation in the field of management. The faculty has been accredited for next 3 years.
The Faculty of Business Administration thus remains among the best business schools, such as HEC Paris, London Business School, Rotterdam School of Management, University of St. Gallen or St. Petersburg University, Graduate School of Management. Only 189 faculties worldwide out of about 15,000 business faculties have EQUIS accreditation.
The Faculty of Business Administration received the EQUIS accreditation in 2017 for three years. In 2019, the faculty initiated a re-accreditation process. As a part of this process the EQUIS Peer Review Team visited the Faculty in November 2019. The aim of this committee was to assess whether the faculty meets the requirements for re-granting EQUIS accreditation. The committee verified the information provided by the faculty in so-called self-evaluation report in in-depth interviews with the faculty management and management of University of Economics, employees, students, graduates and corporate partners. The decision on the re-accreditation was made by the EQUIS Accreditation Council at their online meeting on 31. 3. 2020.
The basic objective of EQUIS accreditation, which is based on the mission of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), is to improve the quality of managerial education worldwide. EQUIS strives to set a balance between high academic quality and professional relevance ensured by close cooperation with practice. EQUIS-accredited institutions must demonstrate not only high quality in all their activities but also a high level of internationalization. Criteria which are evaluated within the accreditation process are faculty management processes, quality of study programmes, quality of study processes, quality of academic staff, quality of research activities, quality of executive education, financial management, international overlap and interconnection with a corporate sphere.
“The Faculty of Business Administration confirmed today that again it belongs to the world elite,” says the Dean of the faculty prof. Ing. Ivan Nový, CSc. and adds: “In the current difficult period, this is great news that has encouraged us all. I would like to thank all my colleagues, students, graduates and partners very much. They make up the faculty and that is why it is our common success.”
